How to Stop Sugar Cravings

How do you stop sugar cravings when, with the holidays approaching, sugar cravings sometimes get the best of us? All those candies and cookies, plus sugary dishes like sweet potatoes with marshmallows, are standard fare during this time of the year. There are natural ways to stop sugar cravings so you can enjoy just a little of your favorite dishes, without going overboard.

What Causes Sugar Cravings?

There are lots of theories about what causes sugar cravings. One possible include candida yeast overgrowth. Yeast feeds on sugar and if you have excess yeast in your system, you'll be craving the sugar it needs to survive.

If candida yeast is your problem, try The Body Ecology Diet, which focuses on building good bacteria in your system, which kills off the yeast. Eating fermented or cultured veggies both kills off the yeast and stops sugar cravings like nothing else. You can also try products like kefir, which is fermented milk. You can purchase kefir in the store or make your own very easily.

Make Your Own Cultured Vegetables

Sugar is addicting so another cause of sugar cravings is simply that you start eating it and crave more. Try cutting sugar from your diet and adding lots of veggies. Be aware of hidden sources of sugar in foods, check labels for high fructose corn syrup and other names which mean sugar. Don't forget that natural sugars such as honey, are still sugar.

Hormone imbalances can also cause us to crave sugar, which is why many women need a sugar fix around the time of their period. Try substituting fruit so you're getting some natural sugar but also some super nutrition. Or drink the stevia drink below.

Other tips to stop sugar cravings

Try Stevia to beat sugar cravings. Stevia is a natural plant with zero calories and does not feed yeast. NuNaturals, available on Amazon, is my favorite brand.

Drink lots of water to keep hydrated. Sometimes when you think you are craving sugar, you are really dehydrated. Add a little lemon juice and stevia if you crave a sweet drink.

Next time you have a sugar craving, try a 6 oz glass of water with 2 tsp of raw, organic apple cider vinegar in it. Apple cider vinegar helps balance your body's ph, cleans toxins from your system, helps to kill off yeast overgrowth and stops sugar cravings!

So over the holidays, or anytime you want to stop sugar cravings, these simple, easy and inexpensive tips will keep you from over-indulging.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Weightloss

You may have read that apple cider vinegar is great for weightloss and I think I've figured out why. Many people gain weight or can't lose weight, because they aren't digesting and absorbing their food properly. If you eat lots of healthy food and still don't lose weight, maybe your body just isn't digesting and using the nutrients. Apple cider vinegar vinegar assists with digestion, making sure you get the most out of your food.

Many people suffer from indigestion and use antacids for relief. However, many times the trouble isn't too much stomach acid, but too little. If you want to lose weight, the next time you get indigestion, try adding a couple of teaspoons of ACV to a small glass of water and drinking it down. Add a little stevia to sweeten if necessary. If this cures your indigestion, it's because you didn't have enough stomach acid to begin with and taking antacids was exactly the wrong thing to do.

If you have constant indigestion, then your body isn't digesting the foods you eat properly and you aren't getting optimum nutrition from even the healthiest diet. Apple cider vinegar helps you lose weight by making sure you digest all the food you eat and actually use it, so it isn't stored as fat.

I've been using apple cider vinegar for weightloss, drinking a tablespoon mixed with water every evening after dinner and sometimes at other times during the day as well and so far, I've lost 3 pounds without doing anything else different in my diet.

Apple cider vinegar is a simple and inexpensive weightloss tool. It's nutritious and good for so many things.
