Does Dining Out Make You Fat?

Can you eat out and watch your weight too? It depends on how often you dine out and what food choices you make. If you like Cheesecake Factory and order their Fried Macaroni and Cheese, you'll set yourself back a whopping 1,570 calories and 69 grams of fat!

Of course, if you order a dish like fried macaroni and cheese, you'd expect the calorie count to be astronomical, I'd say.

I read these reports about American's expanding waistlines and how bad restaurant food is for us but I eat out quite a bit and I know that if you stick to the portion of the menu that says "Weight Watchers" or "low carb," or whatever their weight conscious menu options are, you can eat tasty food and still not gain weight.

I guess the problem is that when people eat out, they tend to throw common sense and diets out the window. Portions are huge in most restaurants and ingredients are added for taste, like salt, butter and other fats, or sugar, without regard for weight management.

We travel a good deal and I know it can be difficult to find menu options that are easy on the waistline. I generally stick to a salad with dressing on the side - and a low calorie option at that. Restaurants like Applebees and Chili's both have weight conscious menus as well.

Here are some great weightloss tips for dining out.
