Recipes Using Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are new to the list of superfoods and can be easily added to lots of recipes to give you and your family maximum nutrition.

One way to use chia seeds in food is to add them to smoothies, soups, sauces, salad dressings, yogurt or to just about anything you eat. To use chia seeds in liquids, make this chia gel recipe first.

You can also add a spoonful or two of dry chia seeds to bread and muffin batter before baking. Add chia seeds as a garnish for couscous, rice and tabouli dishes.

Bake with healthy Raw Sprouted Chia Flour. Use chia flour in place of wheat flour for a gluten free version of your dish.

Chia Recipe for Blueberry Chia Muffins

This recipes contains superfoods flax seed and blueberries, as well as chia seeds.


1  1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1/4 cup ground flax seed
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp chia seeds mixed with 3 tbsp water
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup milk
1 cup blueberries

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  

Add water to chia seeds in a small bowl. Mix with a fork until chia seeds have absorbed all the water and you have chia gel. Add the rest of the wet ingredients to the chia seeds and mix well.

In a separate mixing bowl, blend dry ingredients and slowly add liquid ingredients. Blend to make batter.

Fold the blueberries into batter and pour into muffin pan lined with paper miners. Makes about one dozen muffins.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
