Do You Need A Wellness Vacation This Summer?

If you're like me, your life is hectic. You balance work, kids, relationships, housework....the list is endless - and stressful! It might sound indulgent to take a wellness vacation to ..gasp!....relax. Who relaxes these days?

This is exactly the reason you need a wellness vacation. Relaxing is becoming a lost art in these days of cell phones, laptops and blackberries but stress is collectively killing us and is certainly making us short tempered to boot.

So how do you take a wellness vacation? There are many types and you can tailor your vacation to suite yourself and your family. Just going off to an exotic local like Hawaii or a Mexican resort can sure take your mind off your troubles for a while. Trips are available for a few days or weeks, whichever you can afford.

Anyplace you go, unless you're camping in the desert, offers an opportunity to pamper yourself with a massage, facial or mud baths. Many hotels also offer wellness programs for the health-seeking traveler.

Spas, hotels and retreats offer many different wellness vacation packages where you can learn new yoga poses, learn how to meditate or will help you get in touch with your spiritual side. You can also go on weight loss retreats, study nutation and eat organic food or try more exotic beauty treatments like vinotherapy.

No matter where you go, you're sure to find opportunities to go for a quiet walk on a warm sandy beach at sunset or a hike in a tropical rain forest. Take advantage of the quiet moments so you'll come home refreshed.

Whatever sort of wellness vacation you take, the idea is to renew the spirit and come home relaxed and rejuvenated, ready to face the work-a-day world of jobs, paying bills and running the kids to football and volleyball practice.

Take a mini wellness vacation at home.

If you can't take a trip someplace, take a day for yourself and go someplace new and different. Take a walk in a park where you've never been and stroll easily along. Sign up for a spa day at a local spa. Take a meditation or yoga class for the summer. Run your bath tub full of fragrant bubbles, lock the door, light the candles and turn on some soothing music and soak for a full decadent hour.

Learning to relax is one of the most important keys to long-lasting good health. People who meditate and practice yoga daily sleep better and feel more peaceful about life. Relaxation boosts your immune system, making you less susceptible to illness and disease.

Isn’t your health and peace of mind worth a little relaxation time? Take a wellness vacation for a week, a day or an hour. You owe it to yourself!
